0.VIII.x ("Finish Your Game" Jam)


Changelog:

0.VIII.0: (During Jam period)
  • A boss battle! Yay! (Pictured above)
  • Level H, and more secret levels, of course.
  • Some cool shader effects, including:
    • A shader for the "gem" that appears after defeating the boss. (Pictured above)
    • The same shader is now used instead of particles for the player's explosion attack.
    • There's now a subtle "wave" effect when the player is shifted.
  • Tweaked player's collision.
  • Bugs!
    • A bug on Android where the shaders just blocked your view, not having any effect.
    • A loading/saving error that crashed the game.
0.VIII.a: (After Jam)
  • Fixed Android shader bug by playing with export settings on Godot.
0.VIII.d:
  • Fixed loading/saving bug. 

"Finish Your Game" Jam:

While I knew I wouldn't finish the game (heh, not even close),  my main goal during the jam was to create a boss battle. I also wanted to create more levels in general.

I'm curious to hear feedback about the boss battle. It didn't turn out as challenging as I was planning, but I think it works well as a "reward boss" that's satisfying to defeat.

I only added a few levels; not as many as I'd hoped. However, that's mainly because I got sidetracked making shaders, (something that's somewhat new to me) and implementing other small improvements. All in all, I feel it was time well spent.

I'll be playing other entries in the jam throughout the next few days.
